by Brian Chen , Macworld.com As Macworld Lab has detailed in our reports on camcorder testing , we’ve encountered compatibility problems with a number of tapeless camcorders. Canon’s Vixia HF10, a high-definition camcorder that uses a 16GB internal flash drive and an SD card for storage, is one of the few tapeless camcorder that we’ve found that works seamlessly with the Mac. In our testing, the HF10 shot impressive, brilliant video, up to par with its similar... Read more
I really liked using the HF10, once getting the hang of the menu system. Focusing was fast and crisp, ergonomics are terrific and it did an excellent job handling scenes taken outdoors. Unfortunately, like the JVC, it made wind sound like the exhaust of a jet engine, even with the noise reduction engaged. And this camcorder wasn’t as good in available light as the JVC, a recent Editor’s Choice pick. Good, not great is the bottom line for this one. • Takes beautiful... Read more

The Canon HF10 is a great camcorder, and certainly the first to achieve greatness in the AVCHD class. If you have the computer power to handle the files and you’re ready to step up to HD, this is a very strong contender. Read more
The Canon HF10 may be the AVCHD camcorder we’ve been waiting for. The first generation of AVCHD camcorder from Sony and Panasonic were just plain no good – lots of features but short on performance. Then Canon came along shortly after with the HR10 ( Read more

- I'm using this for misc home videos, and was really concerned that my Mac mini osX wouldn't be able to deal with the data but was able to download the various 2-6 minute clips in a resonable amount of time. Am able to edit using recent version of iMovie and post those clips on iWeb - no issues. Currently can't get the full HD format in iDVD not a big deal though. I was really concerned about the format not working with these programs - nothing to be concerned about. Read more
By far the highest quality consumer camcorder I have ever seen. Browsing images is pretty slow, video playback is pretty good however. Low light conditions are not good, but it has an extremely bright light if you desire to use it. Haven't had a chance to edit any files yet, but that is the next test. So far I am very pleased with how quiet it is (internal flash memory), how quick it is for taking video, video quality, sound quality, size is super small - which I like.... Read more
