Playback

The digital photo frame supports playback of JPEG, BMP, TIFF, and RAW image formats up to a resolution of 48 megapixels. It operates in portrait, landscape, and auto orientation modes. While photos are on display, users can opt to zoom in, zoom out, delete, and rotate. Users can also choose to view in slideshow mode or in thumbnail mode.

Other playback features of the DPF-D70 include red-eye correction, auto image resizing, variable slideshow speeds, auto slideshow, exposure correction, and variable fade effects.

Display

The Sony DPF-D70 is equipped with a 7-inch WVGA-resolution (800 x 480) TFT LCD screen with an image aspect ratio of 15:9.

Memory

The digital photo frame comes with an integrated flash memory of 256 megabytes with an auto-sizing feature. This feature allows users to store up to 500 1.5-megapixel photos in the internal storage. Apart from this, the DPF-D70 supports the use of a wide variety of flash memory cards including RS-MMC, MultiMediaCard, CompactFlash Card type II, Microdrive, SD Memory Card, MultiMediaCardplus, Memory Stick Duo, CompactFlash Card type I, SDHC Memory Card, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick, XD-Picture Card, and Memory Stick PRO Duo.

Compatibility

The Sony DPF-D70 is compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home Edition, Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 3 or later, and Apple Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

Additional Features

The DPF-D70 is compliant with Plug-and-Play standards allowing for direct image transfers from digital cameras and memory cards without the need for computers.

Its other features include clock and calendar playback with 3 available designs. It is also PhotoTV HD compatible.

    The Sony DPF-D70 digital photo frame straddles market segments to a degree due to the higher than average price for a 7” frame, but fewer features than competitors in the $140 area (Kodak offers an 8” model with WiFi for a few dollars more).     "This digital photoframe is real easy to set up, just pop in a memory card and go. The transitions between pictures are nice and smooth, and you have enough storage on the frame for about 50 pics. The screen is bright and sharp. The only real downside is that you cannot mount it on a wall, but a great product nonetheless." Read more
