Despite a few downsides, the PowerShot A590 is a nicely stabilized camera. It produces nice images with fine color rendering. The A590 will largely do the job for someone on a tight budget looking for a good compact. Read more

Canon has another winner on its hands—this camera will sell by the shipload. At less than $179 USD, the 8MP PowerShot A590IS takes the type of shots casual photographers need captured (landscapes, people and so on) and does the job well. Although there are a few flaws such as a limited high-end video mode and some loss in shadow detail, this digicam does what it’s expected to do with a minimum of fuss and bother. Other camera companies are going to have a tough time... Read more

I bought this camera to replace an older Nikon CoolPix that my horse stepped on. I selected it rather than another Nikon (loved that camera) because when I compared the two, the Canon just felt more durable. In particular, while both the Canon and the Nikon CoolPix L16 that I looked at have the SD disc located in the battery compartment, the Canon's battery access door felt solid. The Nikon's hinges felt flimsy and weak. So far I've taken about 150 shots in various... Read more

Received the camera right away. Will deal with this merchant again. I am no photography expert, although, if I were, this camera gives me the option of manual settings. However, it also has an automatic setting that gave me FABULOUS photos. Just got back from vacation and reviewed the photos today. I can't believe that I took them, they look too good!! I would recommend this camera to anybody and everybody. Thanx- JE Read more

I use this camera for survey at work. I take lots of pictures and the quality of pictures is great. I can zoom in on a picture when I am back at the office and see lots of detail. The down side is after 3 to 5 shots the camera start to take many secondsto recharge for the next picture if you are using a flash. A freshly recharged set of batteries help for a while but it it quickly start to lag again. Kodak rechargeable batteries last for 300 to 500 pictures. Wish it had... Read more
