  2. 26 April 2008

The DMP-BD30 is the most DVD-like of any Blu-ray player I’ve used thus far, and I mean that in a good way. It combines the beautiful HD picture and high-resolution audio I want from Blu-ray with faster response time and generally seamless navigation. Those benefits, more than just its Profile 1.1 spec, make it one of my top choices in Blu-Ray … today, at least. If Panasonic had only included an Ethernet port, this player would be an unqualified success.... Read more

  3. Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blu-ray Player

    06 March 2008

A few years ago, Panasonic released a batch of progressive scan DVD players that took everyone by surprise, offering unsurpassed 480p performance at a price that was almost too good to be true. Unfortunately this trend didn’t last long. Panasonic later went on to release some decent upscaling and progressive scan DVD players, but they relied on some Genesis/Faroudja chips that had inconsistent performance with displays and never quite lived up to the bar set by their... The DMP-BD30, however, not only carries a significantly lower price tag ($499), but is a completely new design as well. In one important way it takes us closer to the ideal feature set that should have been designed into Blu-ray players in the first place. In another respect, however, it takes a step backward. I've had the player for a couple of weeks now and I LOVE IT!! The price keeps dropping on this wonderful machine that can do so many things (up scale my old DVD's, incredible picture and sound with blu ray discs) and I haven't even upgraded the firmware yet from Panasonic! I also haven't used the SD card slot but will soon (to look at our digital camera pix). But so far, I'm extremely pleased by the performance, look and price of the Panasonic BD30! Read more

I was looking for a Blu-ray player; however, knowing nothing about the performance of these, I contacted my brother who is very knowledgable about electronics. He recommended the Panasonic and I was extremely pleased. He set it up for me and am now watching everything on my large screen TV in Blue-ray. Love it and would highly recommend this.
