TomTom Go 720 is iPod compatible and allows users to see, select and play songs. This is a FutureProof device and is guaranteed to be never out of date. TomTom Go 720 provides users easy access to the latest maps and upgrades via TomTom HOME option. This portable pocket-sized device is Plug & Go and works right out of the box.
TomTom Go 720 is preloaded with maps of the US and Canada on its internal memory and an SD card isnt required. Text-to-speech consists of spoken turn-by-turn instructions, including street and place names. Users can find their coffee shop, gas station, hotel and more by selecting the branded point-of-interest icons. This navigation device is also Bluetooth compatible and supports handsfree calling. The TomTom GO 720 also comes with a Help Me! feature which allows users to access local emergencies such as Police, Fire Stations and Hospitals. It has a Built-in FM transmitter which plays MP3 and spoken turn-by-turn instructions over stereo. The TomTom Go 720 also provides users with access to real-time traffic and weather. This device ships with free software which can installed on the PC to enable users to plan trips, access premium services and maps.

Overall, the TomTom GO 720 is a great alternative to the Magellan Maestro 4040 we reviewed in July of 2007. It is $50 cheaper at $449.95 and has better battery life but it has the media playback capabilites that the Magellan doesn’t have. The Magellan also has a slight advantage with the addition of AAA travel information. Each unit has it’s slight advantages so if you need one over the other, pick accordingly. The Tom-Tom GO 720 does what was promised. I am not a GPS expert and the TomTom brand is all I have used (ONE 3rd edition and now the GO 720). The navigation is easy to use, the map recalculations are quick, and the screen is very customizable. The Negative on the product is that the FM transmitter is a bit too weak. Even when tuned to a non-used station, any interference comes through, and also you need to keep scanning for unused stations when traveling. I will try the... Read more

Was looking for a solid device, with sleek design, easy to use, that could handle a few extra 'nice to have' features like playing mp3s and handsfree mobile phone connectivity. The GO 720 delivers and then some. It's a great little device and I'm glad I waited a little. It now sells for under $400 at Best Buy. Comes with a usb cradle, car charger. The Tom-Tom is an excellent product not only does it get you to where you want to go, but it features are fantastic. You have blue tooth for you cell phone, and you can update your maps just plug it in your computer and with a few clicks its done. We wanted a garman but you can only update your maps once a year and you have to buy a cd to do this, about 80.00. With the tom-tom its free on line you can update any time your ready.
