Featuring a built in silent wave motor and some good vibration reduction the new Nikkor has a focal range of 16 to 85mm, making it useful for a wide range of photographic situations. It has been said of this lens that when it is mounted on any DX type Nikon, the angle will be equal to that which is "produced by a 24 to 127.5mm focal length lens on a 35mm film or Nikon FX-format camera". The compact silent wave, which is built into the lenses body offers fast silent focusing, while the dimensions make it handy.(2.8 x 3.4 in.)

Vibration reduction in the lens in theory will give the ability to shoot at shutter speeds up to four stops slower than you would be able to otherwise, according to Nikon, and to minimize the blur to helpyou achieve sharper photos in the hand held arena.

Integrated Coating for a better color balance and reproduction, while lowering the amount of flar and ghosting, to help with out of focus background items.

Some of the more major features of the Nikkor are;

  • 5.3x zoom lens covering a wide range of 16 to 85mm.
  • Vibration Reduction II for sharper pictures
  • ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements
  • Three a-spherical lens elements
  • High-performance Nikon Super Integrated Coating
  • Silent Wave Motor
  • Rounded seven-blade diaphragm opening
  • 0.38 m/1.3 ft. closest focus distance
  • Accepts 67 mm filter attachments
