The P5Q Deluxe features AMD CrossFireX technology for improved rendering speed and better image quality. In addition, the board also offers the Catalyst Control Center utility. This allows the user to tweak their settings and check the effects with a 3D-rendered preview, all in real-time.
For overclocking the system, the Asus P5Q Deluxe offers Precision Tweaker 2, AI Booster and SFS (Stepless Frequency Selection). Precision Tweaker 2 allows the user to fine-tune the northbridge, front side bus termination, CPU PLL and DRAM voltages in small increments. AI Booster is an innovative utility that offers the user the ability to overclock the system while inside the Windows OS. SFS offers front side bus and PCI Express frequency tuning in 1 MHz increments.
With a heat pipe design and the Stack Cool 2 fanless thermal solution, the P5Q Deluxe promises much lowered temperatures. The heat pipe design also supports the installation of side-flow fans or passive coolers. The motherboard also features Asus’ Fan Xpert which gives the user the ability to adjust CPU and chassis fan speeds according to different ambient temperature.
The P5Q Deluxe uses Asus’ True 16-Phase Power Design which promises up to 96% power efficiency. The motherboard also has an EPU-6 Engine which adjusts power fed to the system according to load.
The P5Q Deluxe includes Asus Express Gate which offers quick access (5 second bootup) to the most commonly used functions such as Internet access. With this feature, the user can surf the web, email or use VoIP applications without booting into Windows.
The motherboard also has two BIOS chips. With the DieHard BIOS system, the user can easily restore the corrupted BIOS with the backup.

Back when we tested the ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe it quickly became obvious that the P45 was a winner, improving on the performance and efficiency of the original P35 chipset. Got this with a Q9450, OCZ PC26400 Platinum memory, Seagate 500GB HDD, BFG 9600GT OC 512MB etc. It comes with an old bios (0510 I think) which was a bit unstable when changing bios settings, however updating the bios to the latest version (07XX) fixed this. Read more
