Pioneer DVR-115D

The Pioneer DVR-115D is a DVD burner that measures 5.8 x 1.7 x 7.1 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 1.8 pounds. It features a tray-type media loader that can accommodate both 8 and 12 centimeter discs. This optical drive can be mounted either horizontally or vertically. However, 8 centimeter discs cannot be used when the drive is mounted vertically.

The DVR-115D has a data buffer size of 2 megabytes and supports buffer under-run protection for CDs and DVDs. It is equipped with a Multi-Effect LCD Tilt Servo Compensator Mechanism which allows it to compensate for discs that are warped or of uneven thickness therefore improving its recording and playback capabilities. It also has an Ultra-DRA (Dynamic Resonance Absorber). This allows it to suppress vibration generated by imbalanced discs. The DVR-115D also features Performance Adjusting Firmware and a Disc-Resonance Stabilizer. The Performance Adjusting Firmware automatically adjusts and optimizes the speed of disc rotation according to the application being used and the Disc-Resonance Stabilizer minimizes the drive’s disc-warping effect on discs that are used on high speed.

The DVR-115D supports a wide variety of media types including CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW and dual layer DVD+R and -R. For CDs, it supports CD-DA (audio) Video CD, CD Text, CD-ROM, Photo CD, CD-ROM XA, and CD Extra formats.

This optical drive offers a read speed of 40x for CDs and 16x for DVDs. It writes at a maximum speed of 40x on CDs, 20x on DVDRs, and 10x for DVDR DLs. For rewriting, it has a maximum speed of 32x for CDs, 6 for DVD-RWs, and 8x for DVD+RWs.
