Samsung SH-S202J

The Samsung SH-S202J is an internal DVD writer that measures 5.8 x 1.7 x 6.7 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 1.8 pounds. It has a tray-type media loader that can accommodate both 8 and 12 centimeter discs. This DVD writer, which can be mounted vertically or horizontally, features LightScribe technology which allows for direct disc labeling.

The SH-S202J supports a number of optical media types including CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL. It supports CD-DA (audio), Video CD, CD Text, CD-I, Photo CD, CD-ROM XA, DVD-Video, and CD Extra compact disc formats.

The Samsung SH-S202J reads CDs at a speed of up to 48x and DVDs at 16x. When writing, it offers speeds of 48x for CDs, 20x for DVDRs, and 12x for DVDR DLs. It features SpeedPlus which allows it to offer real 20x recording speed. Because of SpeedPlus, the Samsung SH-S202J takes less than 5 minutes to fully write on DVD+R.

This writer is equipped with Speed Adjustment and Double OPC technologies which automatically detects the media type used to ensure error-free reading and recording. It also features Tilt Actuation Compensation (TAC) technology which enhances its recording capability on deformed media.

The SH-S202J has a 2 megabyte data buffer and it features Buffer Under-run Free technology which enables high-speed media writing.
