World in Conflict's single-player campaign has plenty of polish, but it won't tax most players' tactical abilities or attention spans: its fourteen missions can be completed in well under an hour each. And its simple hit point system for all vehicles pales in comparison to complex ballistic and armor modeling setups in other recent strategy games. On the other hand, its multiplayer system offers fast-paced strategic action balanced for rich team play. Get the game, find... Read more
When I first loaded up and was given the overview of the game, I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical. There was an overtone to the game that seemed to correspond with today's events in Iraq and some differing views of those events. When I heard Alec Baldwin doing some narration, it drove me to be even more skeptical. Was I going to be playing a game that was made to be fun or one that was made to send a certain political message? If it was the latter, I was going to be... Read more
Nothing flexes our imagination like alternate history scenarios, and World in Conflict delivers one that has us on the edge of our seat. It’s the late 1980s, and the Cold War is far from over. The commies have already made a push to invade Western Europe, and in a desperate move, have decided to mount a sneak attack on American shores. It’s your mission to contain the Soviet invasion and retake Seattle before the invaders paint the country red. Read more
Online play is solid enough to have the potential to develop the kind of community that keeps Age of Empires II running strong to this day. The Massgate online service is vastly better than crappy server browsers, and the gameplay is brilliant. With World in Conflict’s wall-to-wall quality and strong online offering, don’t be surprised to see this at the top of the running for Strategy Game of the Year. Read more

I have to say, I wasn't too psyched about this game when it first came out. I was never a big fan of strategy games. But, when my friend told me how good it was, I had to play it. Let's start off with the story. I give it a 5 out of 5. It's very original. It's one of those classic "What it..." games, much like the new FPS for PC, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. It gives you the message: don't f**k with mother Russia. Graphics: Definitly a 5. These are the best graphics... Read more
‘The evacuees are safe. Now we can focus on killing Russians‘. World in Conflict would get few prizes for political correctness – but that‘s probably the only plaudit this groundbreaking strategy title isn‘t going to win anytime soon. Voted ‘Best Strategy Game of E3 2007‘ World in Conflict welcomes you to a nightmare vision of the future where cold war–era superpowers battle it out against each other, set to the backdrop of familiar cities and locales...
