Portable DVD players are becoming more and more popular especially among people who travel frequently and want some entertainment along the way. Panasonic’s LS80 portable DVD player is a good fit for this goal It’s 8.5” screen offers high resolution and easy angle adjustment for very easy viewing in a variety of circumstances. The LS80’s wide screen pivots, allowing the user to find the perfect positioning that provides good image quality (you can turn it away from glare) and comfort for viewing. Along with that versatility, there’s also a brightness control that helps with differing DVD qualities and also the lighting levels wherever you may be – from the airport to hotel, from outdoor at the pool, or indoors in bed (note that the angled screen will help keep light away from any bed partner’s eyes too).

If you’re not in the mood for DVDs, the Panasonic LS80 lets you play a variety of music formats including MP3s, CDs and WMAs. Don’t worry, you won’t run out of energy for that musical interlude power nap either. The LS80’s battery holds its charge for up to 6 hours (enough for more than one movie, and lots of songs). You won’t need special speakers to enjoy your favorite tunes either. The LS80 has digital surround sound. Or, you could plug in two headphones and share the music with a friend without disturbing anyone else. Be aware, the more you use headphones vs. speakers the longer your battery time lasts. Otherwise it often only holds a charge for approximately 3 hours. This is common among portable DVD players, so it’s not a critical flaw.

At a weight of only 2 pounds the Panasonic LS80 certainly delivers the promise of portability. The disc player itself is very quiet – it won’t distract you from music or movies, and it comes with AC/DC adapters for your use. When you insert a DVD the machine automatically senses the format and adjusts the display accordingly. There is not, however, a remote control like other Portable DVD players, which some consumers may want.

"This is a great product for those going on long boring plane rides where the movies they are showing are not all that great. It really easy to use and the battery as last for over 10 hrs for me. It also works great with HDTV and the sound is out of this world. When I was looking at all the portable DVD players, this was the only one that had really good quality sound. The only down fall is that it doesn't come with a remote. Over all great product and highly recommend." Read more

This DVD player worked great out of the box. No need to charge, just get up and go. I have only used it while powered by the car or home, so I can't speak of the battery life. The quality of the picture is great. It entertained my kids for a long 11 hour car trip each way. This is a must for any family going on a trip. The kids didn't even ask for food or to stop at all. The only thing I heard was giggling and questions for another video. Comment Read more
