The BenQ W500 uses a lens design that is blue printed from the irises of the human eye. It automatically adjusts the aperture based on the video signal it detects. For dark scenes, the aperture decreases its size to prevent light from destroying the darkness. For bright scenes, the aperture increases to accommodate the light it needs to enhance details. This projector also converts the content on SD from analog television broadcasts to a high definition video. It uses 1024 pixels for its pictures. It also applies the MDDF technology, which is a Multi Dimensional Diagonal Filtering system for smoother viewing. Each color signal is handled individually, with varying brightness input and color distortions. The dimensions of this printer are 13.7 inches by 10.9 inches by 4.7 inches, with a weight of 12.8 pounds.

Inherently, we all have to figure that any "entry level" home theater projector is a compromise. Afterall, for example, the W500 is the least expensive of five 720p and 1080p projectors they offer. The W500 is one of the best when it comes to "no fuss", as it is very easy to set up, and placing it is also straight forward, with many who can make it work in their room, expected to shelf mount, to cut back on some installation hassle and cost. Well I just bought this projo for 800 bucks from Costco and let me tell you...I love it! Really good price and excellent picture quality for 720p. The picture needs some fine tuning out of the box and I would recommend using HDMI with blu-ray. Anyway i'm so happy with it that I had to write in oh and if you... Read more
I do not know what the low rating people voted this projector so low for! Just because of one miserable problem they consider the whole company is at fault. BenQ is known for their awesome customer service. Back to this projector though, it's outstanding. Tweak everything to your liking with it's awesome menu especially for colors. With HDMI and 2 Components and a D-SUB what more is there to ask? HQV does an outstanding effect on SD content (DVD, most computer medias, tv... Read more
