This scanner, which supports a maximum document size of 8.5 x 11.7 inches, offers full color, grayscale, black & white, and text enhanced scanning modes. It has a 48-bit color depth that yields over 281 trillion possible colors. The Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 produces scans with a resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 color dpi. This optical resolution can be enhanced to 19,200 x 19,200 dpi using the included software. The included software, the CanoScan Toolbox 4.9, also allows users to enhance and archive photos as well as create and manipulate PDFs.

The CanoScan LiDE 25 offers a multi-scan mode allowing users to simultaneously scan multiple images. Using this mode, each image is automatically saved as an individual file. I bought this scanner to scan family photos. It got the job done, but as others have mentioned the scanning speed is very slow and noisey. I didn't have any problems hooking up the scanner or installing the software. I scanned about 40 photos, most all at 600 DPI. (The higher the DPI the higher the quality, but also the longer it takes to scan.) I found that it was essential to preview each scan (to adjust the scan area, do any tweaking, etc.), which really added to the... Read more

This baby is very lightweight! For such a quality, it's even lighter than a book! I tried to scan some of my books, and they come out with vivid color and easy text recognition. It's a bit slow, but I don't scan a whole book or anything, I just keep some valuable pages in electronic format. Great for a student! Read more

I use the CanoScan to scan documents and bills and any other thing I want digitized. I haven't used it to scan anything too graphics-intensive, but so far it's done a good job with reproductions. If there's a weakness with the product, it's the included software, which is a bit clunky. Otherwise, you can't really get a better deal! Read more
