The ICD-P520 digital voice recorder from Sony measures 1.36 x 4.31 x 0.7 inches (W x H x D) and weighs in at 2.3 ounces with batteries. It is powered by 2 AAA batteries and is rated to last up to 22 hours of continuous use in Long Play (LP) recording mode. In addition to the built-in microphone and loud speaker, the Sony ICD-P520 has inputs for plugging in microphones as well as headphones. The device connects to a PC via a USB cable and is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP.

The digital recorder also has a large LCD screen that shows date, time, battery status, current quantity of recordings as well as the amount of recording time remaining.

Included in the box are 2 AAA batteries, a USB cable and a CD containing Sony’s Digital Voice Editor.

Features

The Sony ICD-P520 has 256 megabytes of built-in flash memory; enough space to hold up to 150 hours and 15 minutes of recordings in LP mode. In Standard Play (SP) mode the digital recorder can hold up to 81 hours and 15 minutes; and 30 hours and 25 minutes while in High Quality (HQ) mode.

With Sony’s VOR (Voice Operated Recording) mode, the ICD-P520 will intelligently stop recording during pauses in dictation and restart again when it senses sounds. It also features the ability to set the sensitivity level of the microphone for different recording situations as well as date and time stamps on each recording. 4 folders have been provided for simple organization.
