The game features a physics engine that make the blocks react realistically to collisions. The speed and the launch angle of the projectiles in the game are also taken into account by the advanced game engine.
In this physics-based puzzle game, the player uses his Wii Remote to control various projectiles such as bowling balls, laser guns and water hoses. The Remote is also used to grip the various blocks in the game. Boom Blox has numerous kinds of blocks, each having its own physical properties that affect how they react to contact.
Boom Blox has more than 300 levels in its single player mode and over 100 multiplayer levels. The game also has a level editor.
Boom Blox offers over 300 levels in single player mode. Levels get progressively harder and the player must achieve a bronze medal in order to reach the next level.
The player can choose to play in Explore mode or Adventure mode. The former allows the player to discover the mechanics of the game and further hone his skills with puzzles that have specific objectives. The latter injects stories and characters into the each of game’s puzzles.
Boom Blox has over 100 levels for multiplayer cooperative or competitive games and can be played by up to 4 people.
The player can either modify existing levels or create his own. Additional kinds of blocks can be unlocked by the player when he plays through the Explore mode. After creating a level, the user can even share it with people in his Friend roster through WiiConnect24.

Steven Spielberg has already made his contribution to the video game world. His delightful and classic E.T. was the impetus for the great video game crash, his franchise being transformed into a video game so poorly planned that it spouted urban legends about entire junkyards filled with cartridges. That event alone was enough, we didn’t need anything else from the impressive movie director. We definitely didn’t need his name senselessly plastered on a raucous,... Read more
It’s probably fair to say that many gamers didn’t get too excited when they learned that Steven Spielberg made the decision to dabble in the gaming industry. After Boom Blox however, I think it’s safe to say that most will eagerly look forward to the next game he has a hand in. Boom Blox is easily the most pleasing surprise of 2008 and is a game that is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys playing games with friends or family. As a single-player the experience... Excellent Game, lots of variety. You have to think about your moves and then judge the aim and power just right. Not a game for those with weak wrists. Read more
Being a blockhead is now a worthy accolade. Simplicity is the key here. Oh, and Spielberg…the famed director has put more than a little penny‘s worth of his talent, influence and name to this block bashing puzzler. Whether it shows or not is up to you. What you get is one of the year‘s most colourful, addictive and in equal measures, infuriating games so far. Point and throw a variety of objects and beautifully constructed towers of Jenga–like blocks and the odd... Read more
