As a Sims character in the game My Sims, the mission of the player is to resurrect a decrepit abandoned town by luring back residents and businesses into this run-down neighborhood. The player needs to increase the town’s population little by little until the entire town looks progressive and occupied again. The player needs to rely on Nunchuck controls to do direct-movement game play in the Wii-format version. The Wii Remote is reserved for object movement and building only. Those used to earlier Sims video games may remark that the My Sims characters look like Japanese anime characters and not like the earlier Sims characters in other titles.

You can discuss with random people, build things in your workshop, and even build houses for new residents. Together with building houses you’ll be doing interior designing items like chairs, beds, ovens, etc. Whenever somebody moves in you build them a house, ask them what they want to be built, and then go build it in your workshop. Building things in your workshop will keep the fun going. Though it is simple, the visuals are good. The game is sunny with a playful mood. The cartoons presentation in the game stand for the silly and weird happenings in and make The Sims seem more reasonable. Gender is not important. You don’t have to choose your sim’s sex, and you can freely mix male and female hairstyles, eyes, mouths, and outfits. Construction is simple, based on a diverse collection of boxes and bric-a-brac that you can drag about using the Wii Remote. When you pick up a piece of flair for your structure, blue dots will appear to show where you can actually place them. There are several different-themed sets of building blocks that you can choose from and you will also earn blueprints for more ornate furniture. MySims is a weird but fun game.

The bed with wooden posts instead of a mattress, that suspiciously lewd sculpture, and the sprawling skull-laden throne…it’s all your doing. My Sims is basically a fully customizable village, letting you craft every house and piece of furniture from scratch without the aid of a magical in-game catalogues. The building mechanics function well when you aren’t working with small pieces and precise placement, and the cute visual style is a nice change for the... Read more
So overall I liked the game, it is fun to play, has a good presentation that I’d like to see advanced on in a future “MySims” title, I would have liked to have seen some kind of internet aspect to the game, as well as blending in Nintendo’s Mii avatars into the game. Fans of “The Sims” probably won’t like this game much and will say it dumbs the franchise down, but in fairness to EA they are not aiming it at that market, they are squarely aiming it at the... EA has brought its classic Sims series to Nintendo, and with it, a huge dash of Nintendo accessibility and wholesomeness. Not that the Sims needed much by way of additional wholesomeness, but it certainly seems to be a natural fit with Nintendo. In MySims, players are charged with dragging a town from a state of general decrepitude to being a lovely place to spend an afternoon. To kick things off, players will build their character. A wide range of items are available to... Read more
MySims is an entertaining, and extremely addictive experience. For novices to the genre it’s a nice start off point thanks to the user-friendly controls, eye-catching visuals, pleasant sound track and progressive pacing. It’s a game that needs to be played at a few hours at a time, and whether you like it or not, that’s exactly how long you will spend on MySims . Is it worth the full asking price? That’s dependant on how much work and effort you’re willing to... Read more
Overall, My Sims is a great start to what could be a fantastic series. If they'd flesh the game out a bit, EA would have a game that would easily rival Animal Crossing , offering players the chance to fully realize their town from the ground up instead of simply trading shirts with stupid animals that will just as soon steal from you. For now, however, My Sims provides a nice groundwork and an enjoyable outlet to express your creativity - at least in small doses. It's... Read more

'My Sims' is a mixed bag of a game, and as such, should be reviewed on many different levels. First off, who will like this game? Well, if you are a hard-core 'Sims' fan, then this may be a title to steer clear of. All of the complex control and resource management that is present in a usual 'Sims' game has been stripped from this Wii version. In essence it feels like 'Sims-for-kids', although that might sound a little critical to this games fans. If you liked Animal... Read more
