Need For Speed first appeared on the radar as a supercar burnout showcase for the doomed 3DO console. Over the years, the owner of the franchise, the omnipresent Electronic Arts, has tried a number of different angles, but though NFS1 and 2 were popular, subsequent releases failed to set the world alight. The mega-publisher finally found the formula it had been looking for with the release of Need for Speed: Underground. Riding on the back of the Fast & Furious-inspired... Read more

Besides that gripe though, this is really a solid racing game. If youve grown bored of Burnout Revenge, or dont have a 360 to try out Project Gotham Racing 3, than this is your next best bet. The controls are solid, the storyline is at least entertaining, the cop chases are fun, the graphics and sound are both well done and polished, and the time itll take you to finish it makes it worth a purchase. Need for Speed Most Wanted is an excellent racing game, but like so many yearly games it suffers from being only slightly different to the previous years' game. The re-introduction of cops is good and it's nice to have some new race types but the game still has its frustrations such as the constant handicap in races. Overall if you're looking for a good street racer you won't go wrong with this but you may want to try out EA's other street racer - Burnout - first to see... Read more

Some good old fashioned sun flare, the compulsory bad egg of a cop and good clean racing lines make this a return to form for the Need franchise. From the opening shot of the cop keying your beloved wheels, you know this is going to be a cat and mouse contest of street wills and engine rev face–offs. There‘s three standard modes; career, challenge and quick race to suit all gaming needs at a given moment. Career will have you as the new dude on the block of Rockport,... Read more
