WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 comes with a new superstar fighting style system. There are eight styles available namely; brawler, dirty, hardcore, high flyer, powerhouse, showman, technical and submission. Each style provides a different fighting experience such as, brawler allows for more pounding moves, showman will let you steal taunts and finishers, while dirty will allow you to kick behind the referee’s back. The existing WWE superstars each have two fighting styles to choose. The level of difficulty varies from the levels. However, according to the reviews, there has not been much change from the previous series. The graphics are ok though the animation could have been better. The soundtrack is good but the commentary is not to the level. Many reviews feel that even though the game has some positive modifications like the analogue controls, making the game a whole lot easier to play, but the AI still needs to be improved. Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 could have been a much better game but some gamers still consider it a lot of fun.

In the end SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 is probably not worth your time. If you really commit to putting time into the game, you’ll be able to find a lot of content to busy yourself with. However horribly executed it may be, there is still a lot of playing time to be had. If you’re a long time fan of the series and you’ve stuck with it this far, you’re probably getting what you expect from a yearly "sports" title, but don’t hold your breath if you expect to find... Ultimately, Smackdown VS RAW 2008 is a lot of fun to play. The finishers are simple to do, the grappling system controls great, and the actual wrestlers themselves are bang on in appearance, attitude and abilities. Fans of wrestling on TV will love that ECW superstars are included, adding to the mass of potentially playable characters. The only real problem is the lag factor present in the online multiplayer matches (the same problem was evident in last years edition as... Read more
I've played a lot of wrestling games. I took a stretch of time off there, but now I'm once more finding myself in the yearly trap of creating one or two characters in a wrestling game and going through the career mode. Every year it seems, some "new" feature is trumpeted that turns out to be little more than something Fire Pro or Virtual Pro Wrestling was doing ten years ago. I'm not at all sure how the Madden games do it, or even how often football rosters change enough... Read more
This year's edition of Smackdown vs. RAW is all about customizability and options, options, options. This game needs no introduction. The music, the names, the moves, the arenas, the 100+ match types, the announcers-it's all here. Read more
Another year, another highly anticipated edition of THQ’s perennial Smackdown Vs. Raw. This year, a lot of changes have been made the the extremely successful, but aging Smackdown engine. Some of them are for the best, and some of them will be disappointing to longtime fans of the series. It all adds up to a flawed, yet very enjoyable experience for SVR vets and newbies alike. If you don't like fighting game this one will change your mind. The game is great. The import music feature was great. Characters were great and the graphic are even better. The story mode wasn't the greatest but it was all right. I found myself seeing the same cut scene over and over. Lack of DLC. The game has potential. After you play it you see that the hardest difficulty is too easy. Knowing that the game is yearly I eagerly want to play the next. Read more
